Time Based Access using Captive Portal
-
Hello Forum,
I am using the captive portal option for the first time and just wanted to know is it possible to provide time based internet access using captive portal and with the use of RADIUS server? -
Any ideas or suggestions regarding the question posted will be appreciated

Could you elaborate on "time based internet access"…?

Isn't CP already time based?

I was wondering if the op wanted a scheduler or a count down like vouchers…captive portal by itself isn't "time based".

For example consider their are two employees user1 and user2
user1 should have internet access from 10am to 10pm
user2 should have internet access from 10am to 6pm
If user2 tries to login after 6pm he should not get access to the internet.
Is it possible to provide to access based on the above scenario? -
I think it can be done by freeradius or squidguard timebased fitering via captiveportal authentication feature in squid3-dev

I am aware about squid3-dev package and yes, their is an option for time-based access.
Whether it is possible only with captive portal and radius server? Without using squid3-dev -
networkinggeek,
Radius server allow you to set the time period user are permitted to login.
For freeradius, you set Login-Time attribute to the appropriate time period for your particular user, each user can be assign different range. Logging in outside of this period and user will be rejected.
It works on native freeradius, the pfsense package should have this feature.
