Error in showing queues and shapper
-
helly guys
unfortunatelly I have had many problems with pfsense, related to the file system; I have had core dumped files many times, due to energy fail (I have ups system but the battery do not last too much) and have had problems even reinstalling it due to some BTX Halted errors; but with some pain it installs and keeps fine till the next energy fail… the problem is that when it happens some things begin do not work properly, or simple do not work anymore. Last week my system graphs were not working and I reinstalled the system; Yesterday I was testing some things and have found another problem:
I have created different queues for separating/controlling bandwith of different places in my organization. They were tested and were working fine. But yesterday I was testing two places that have their own queues rules (and were working) and in both I could do downloads with a very high speed, much higher than the configured in their queues, almost the same speed of my wan connection... I was chocked to see that and I think there must be a problem with my shaper, maybe related to any problem in file system and so on any shapper file or maybe due to some problem in my configuration backup that is being restored with errors... I have checked shaper and all is configured fine as before.
The other problem is that when I'm doing some download in that queue, I go to STATUS -> QUEUES and that specific queue download bar doesnt works... only the main WAN and LAN.
So my question is: is that possible that any problem in backup file could result in errors in traffic shaper?? is it recommended that I reinstall pfsense and do ALL the configuration again, from zero?? or can I save only nat and firewall backup, restore it and redo shapper, for example??
I really would apreciate your help because I like pfsense a lot; even with so many problems (I'm buying a new ups and extra batteries :) ) I have been using it since version 0,9 (2 yers I think) and want to keep using it.
Thanks a lot

That's rather strange. What version are you running currently? Maybe you should try to use the embedded image with a cf-card as these are mounted read only most of the time if you happen to have so many powerfailures (at least if you are not using any packages).

Hey Hoba, thanks for your reply.
I'm currently using 1.2RC4, but I use a some packages very usefull as squidguard and this way cannot use it on a CF. The powerfailures here are not very frequent and I would like to install a new ups system with lots of batteries, so, one day this will be easier, but for now I need to make it work fine again, even that I have to install and reconfigure it from zero…
One question: pfsense filesystem should be some bsd one; is it possible to install pfsense on a reiser or ext3 filesystem??
But I keep saying, pfsense is a fantastic tool!
Thanks again.
