C2758 issues (resolved)
-
Hi folks,
I just wanted to post an issue I ran into, which I have since resolved. I built a few C2758 appliances with SuperMicro SuperServers, pretty much identical clones to the ones being sold on the pfSense store. OS loaded up fine and I rebooted several times to test. No issues. I plugged in the patch cables I needed to, did the initial config, and it seemed stable. I simulated some traffic.. worked great. Finished up all of my testing and packed the FW up, went to client site.
When I arrived at the site and plugged in FW including patch cables, fired it up, pfSense would not boot. It hanged very early in the boot process - almost immediately after the boot loader. I turned serial redirection off in the BIOS as well, as I had very little output on my screen. I ended up with the same level of output and the box still hanged.
If I unplugged the patch cables (including its KVM), it would boot up without issue.
I spoke to the pfSense team and they said I should demo out the 2.2 beta. I updated the FW to that, and it is working flawlessly now.
Just thought I'd share in case anyone else came across it.

Mine has been working fine on 2.1.x. I'm booting a full install from USB though so it's possible there's some kind of strange issue with booting from SATA or running the embedded version. No idea. Can you give a full listing of all the hardware you used?
