      Hi All.

I am looking for some guidance for a project that I am running. I want to use pfSense to run as a web proxy with failover and also run web filtering to block the usual websites such as online shopping and social media.

I have installed the latest version and started with the guide from here, https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=37083.0 but was wondering if there is anything that I should be aware of in the newer build or if there are any improvements that can be done.

Once I have this working as it should then I will start on the web filter and look to see what else I can do to reduce the unnecessary traffic and improve security.

      Thanks J.

Edit: So now I have started and set up the 2 WAN connections, WAN1 -> Primary gateway, WAN2 -> Redundant gateway.

Because it is an AD domain, I want to always be using the DC as my DNS server, so in the general set up I have my 2 DNS servers as the local DNS and our hosted backup DNS. The local DNS server has our primary router as its gateway but I will assume it should be a MultiGW group?

You might want to take a look at the 2.2-BETA snapshots.  The 2.1.x code based on FreeBSD 8.3 is quite old and a lot of things have been update din the newer snapshots.  Release candidate is coming soon with a final release early in the new year from what I've read recently.
