Kernel: CPU0: local APIC error 0x80
-
The message above appear randomly in the logs. System (2.2.5 amd64) is fresh set up on a Igel H710C: https://www.igel.com/fileadmin/user/upload/documents/PDF_files/Datasheets_EN/H710C_IGEL_manual_2011-09-28_01.pdf
It does not seem to be related to system load or anything else that trigger it on purpose. While it does not seems to cause a problem I still wonder what caused the error and how to fix it?
Second question: is there a way to get temperature monitoring to work with the VIA nano cpu? -
If you Google on that error you'll find a number of related threads. In the cases where it doesn't cause any problems, it appears to be a BIOS bug of sorts. Probably safe to ignore since it's not causing any issues, but if there is a BIOS update available it'd be a good idea to install it.
The ACPI temp sensors will probably work, if they exist and work on your motherboard.

Indeed there are a few threads about this error but none of them has a solution as well as not even a clue what caused it. Well I guess I simply have to ignore it then as long as it not cause any trouble.
About hardware monitoring: the options available from webui won't bring up any temperature. While I think that nowadays there is no cpu and mainboard without temperature monitoring I wonder how to investigae this further from console?
No luck with this guide unfortunately: https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/What_Hardware_Monitoring_Is_Supported -
This guy made a kernel module for via nano temp:

Although it was posted to various FreeBSD mailing lists it doesn't seem to have made it into FreeBSD.Steve
