E2guardian package for pfsense - $??
-
HI, as many people needs e2/dansguardian package, how about a bounty to speed up e2guardian package to 2.2?
Does this mean that dansguardian does not work in pfSense 2.2? I was planning to build a system for my home.Funds collection
The means and timing of funds collection will vary from one bounty to another. Some developers may require the funds be submitted to the general pfSense donation fund prior to completing the work, if those offering are willing. In that case, I act as the escrow between the originator and the developer performing the work. If the bounty is abandoned the developer agrees that the money will be refunded in full. Due to many issues of folks being paid in a timely manner or not being paid at all, we now require the money up front. Using either the pfSense escrow or paying the developer directly. We apologize for needing to make this change but a couple of bad apples have ruined it for everyone. In my case, you can send me via paypal :)

Yes. It has been removed from freebsd ports and not updated or had proposed bug fixes applied for 2years.
-
How long will it take for you to finish the new one i.e.: E2guardian? I will contribute if that is going to happen very soon. Or I will look for another solution if I will wait long.
-
Soon

The e2guardian port to freebsd is done.
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=197289
Next, it needs to get approved and merged.
Once it's done and on freebsd ports tree, I'll send package gui to pfsense and remove dansguardian from list.
-
That's awesome. I don't know if we can do anything to speed the process but I will contribute another $25 when the package is done. I'm pretty excited to see this completed!

Just sent in $15 through PayPal. Thanks for the good work.

It appears like this will take more than a few days. Is there a way we can manually install the code? Thanks.

The FreeBSD ports team need to review the code.
Any steps before they finish will be totally manual.
I've already done a lot of changes based on Renato's review but I think he still has some considerations.
-
Good to know it's moving forward. Thanks.
The package will have SSL-MITM filtering, right?

My $10 is on the way through PayPal. Thanks for the good work….

Is pf 2.15 + Dansguardian + squid3-dev combination functional for SSL-MITM? I saw differing reports in the forum.

No, dansguardian 2.12 SSL-MITM code was not finished.
Squid3+squidguard will intercept ssl. But if you run active proxy instead of transparent, you can check https domains without interception.

Hi buddy,
Any progress on this package or on squidguard for 2.2

If anybody cares, this is Marcello's request to add e2guardian to the FreeBSD ports on bugs.freebsd.org:

Renato is on vacation, so I'll push a manual install as it's taking a lot of time on step 1.

Just sent you $50 usd. Thanks for your work on this, the old DG pf package, and anything else I'm not aware of. I'd be able to donate some more if you were able to get a reporting tool into the package that sends a daily log of content blocks and by what lan ip's to an admin email. I was never able to get that to work with lightsquid / sarg from the threads I found.
-
Thanks scoot.

Search the forums for dglog2… You can install it for reporting.
At the moment, it doesn't email a report... but I've thought about coding something up to do that...

yeah I've also seen dglog2. The email function is really what I'm looking for as I will have users who want to check the logs that aren't technically inclined and/or are afraid of using the GUI. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Anyone know when we might see an e2guardian package?
-
Waiting for long time, please expedite it

Marcello, I know it's not the normal process but is there a chance we could install an alpha release from your repository? We could start testing it…

ok. I'll try to push it this week.

How rude!
I isn't my intention to be critical or mean, just please think about what you type before submitting.
Those who contribute to this project in any way are volunteers. This is a community of people helping their fellow humans. I know you're anxious for this to be released. I am also waiting with "bated breath.", as it were. You can't really rush this kind of stuff.
I don't think you meant any harm or trouble, but forum posts can be read in a different way than they were written, so to speak - what you say, and what other people hear aren't always the same thing.
When was the last time you tried to expedite baking a cake? How did that turn out?
@MarcelloC: Please do keep us up to date with your progress, but don't rush too much if it means sacrificing quality.
Thanks for all of your hard work.
-
There is nothing rude about it, if you are requesting to fasten the process. I am trying to get message from marcelloc. No intention to push him. I completely understand his work is voluntary but to get best out of pfsense his work is desperately required.
Thanks for taking initiative macelloc. We all appreciate.

Kidding, right… How about expediting your money? Noone gives a damn about how long you've been waiting. ::) ;D

Since i'm getting tired of the current 'buggy at best state' of squidguard.
25$ donated.
-
Boss,
I have already donated $10 and ready to do more, if pfsense work well, not buggy as of today.
-
Hi
Any news on e2guardian.
-
I second that. Marcello, what part are you working on currently. Not trying to rush you. I know predicting a release date is futile. Just, curious as to what you're working or stuck on. The WEB-UI perhaps?? Just a guess.
-
Based on previous posts, I thought he had most of it done and was waiting on e2guardian to become official for FreeBSD…
Marcello - I've got a pretty high-level of familiarity with most of the DG code and have modified much of it extensively for my own distro... let me know if you need help with anything on the e2guardian conversion.

Yes. Today I've passed all the afternoon testing and modifying the port options pointed by Renato. I think there is no more issues or comments on the port.

I'll send current files to pfsense repo. I think most gui config are fine too.
-
Sounds like you've outdone yourself. I said it sounds like. I'll reserve final judgement on that for after I've seen the released project. (: Kidding :) .
Seriously though, hard work pays off. Glad you were up to the challenge. I'll check in in the morning. Good night y'all.

Hi, thanks for the good news, waiting for package, appreciate your hard work.
