How to Install MySql Server and PHPMyadmin in pfSense 2.1.5 RELEASE?
-
I need to install MySql Server and PHPMyadmin to manage the MySql server in a GUI mode in the same pfsense box.
First I want to say why use MySql inside my pfsense box. I do not want to create another machine just for MySql in the way is intended to be used. It will be used to handle a user database for FreeRadius authentication. My user based is no bigger than 50 users or less, so is really not a big impact to the pfsense box and does not justify to create a machine for only that. I can not install anything in the machines behind the pfsense box.
I would like to use MySql for FreeRadius to keep the user and pasword in a more secure way than having the users/password in plain text inside the Users.conf file of Freeradius, and better manage change of passwords and users.
I am not an expert so I prefer to use GUI mode applcations, that is why I would also like to have PHPMyadmin running along side the MySql server.
If there is another service needed to support PHPMyadmin, then need to know which one and how to install it in the same box. Lighttpd has PHP support so I guess it should be feasible to use that as the Web Server for PHPMyadmin, just need to know how to configure it.

I was able to install mysql, but phpMyAdmin installs breaking the Webconfigurator an probably more.
I will have to find another solution. :(

Hi jetberrocal were you able to find a solution?
I am also using a mysql database for freeradius authentication and my method is to host it in the cloud, however this presents some problems with authentication errors which I think are related to timeouts caused by a slow/intermittent internet connection and ideally I would like to have the mysql database on the same box as pfsense.
I guess I could live without phpMyadmin. Can you describe how you set up mysql?

I used standard procedure to install in FreeBSD OS correspondíng to the pfsense versión. Look into the ports folders for the MySQL server version in the port to identify the correct name of the package. It will install the dependencies.
