MultiWAN with 3G4G/B for VoIP failover - concept
-
Hi,
I have been using pfsense for a while now. Thank you for the ESF guys! You are awesome!!!
I am using VoIP for my home phone. Right now, I have a normal DSL connection. My worry is, when the DSL connection goes down, my phones do not work as well.
I am thinking of installing a 3G/4G modem (whatever works), as a backup for VoIP only.
So when my DSL (main line) is down, all voip traffic goes over the 3G/4G network. But I do not want any traffic to be send over the 3G/4G, while the DSL is working (to save cost).
How can this be realized? I am just looking for a more high level config, so I have an idea what steps I have to take to make this work. I am not looking for a how-to-step-by-step-take-me-by-my-hand-kind-off guide. More a generic type guide.
I hope my request is clear.
Thanks in advance!

- Make a gateway group "Failover" with DSL WAN tier 1, 3G/4G WAN tier 2
- Add rule/s on LAN that pass the traffic you want to failover, in the advanced section specify the "Failover" gateway group as the gateway.
