12 squidguard processes in top
-
Hmm, I just uninstalled squid, squidguard and lightsquid to see if could make it all work properly.
After the reinstallation, I see 12 squidgard processes in top, and it's running 5-6 in load, where I usually see 0.5-0.9.I have of course fetched the urlblacklist.com list, but last time I did that, it worked for 10 mins max, this has gone for more than 45 mins, and it's killing the proxy speed of course.

Ok, so now I've removed most packages, snort, squidguard, lightsquid, squid.
Then rebooted.
Then install Snort, started up nicely (shown in services at least).
Then install squid, started up nicely, works, but snort is now stopped, conflict?
Then install lightsquid, gives error 500 on monthly graph (other stats works).
I then updated / downgraded the libperl, still error 500 on monthly graph.
Finally squidguard, I see three squidguard processes in top, but only very little CPU impact. So it was solved somehow, except snort still not running.

NOt need download SG blacklist every 30 min.
All you 9 processes rebuild DB and only 3 worked with squid
Blacklist after downloading need time for rebuilding and update.
In normal situation 3 SG started with squid and
after downloading blacklist one-two processes rebuild DB(10-40 min)
Rebuilding need for quick-start SG. -
Hi DVSerg
No, I didn't download the blacklist every 30 mins :-) I do it once or twice a week.
The only thing odd at the time was that it ate all my cpu for a very long time, and it didn't seem to do anything.
I guess I should've waited a bit longer, nice to know! Thanks for the feedback!

I hate to be that guy but you realize that the urlblacklist isn't free for download and that they expect you, on your honor, to pay for it, right? If you are just blindly downloading and using it, especially for a commercial endeavor, you are most certainly violating their terms of service.

Hi Submicron
Good point, and yes, I AM paying for it, payed for 6 months right away :-)
It is used for my home setup, to protect my children, but it's a very relevant point to emphasize that it's a service you should pay for!
