Needing you ESXi users help!

So originally I was going to just build a Pfsense box with Gigabyte FM2+ / FM2 AMD A58 board and an AMD A6 5400k. But then I decided to do ESXi and run vm pfsense, windows for auto rss torrents and another for Synology NAS as a 3rd vm.
When I installed ESXi it gave me an error message, which I then read that the nic is not supported(unless this is wrong info)
My questions are…
What hardware are you all using? (Mobo / cpu / nics)
And
I saw on the site that's its a 60 day evaluation then if you don't buy a license you can't control the vm any longer? Is this right?
My main goal here is to hAve pfsense pass all traffic, even my vm'is via OpenVPN
Thanks all!
The error message I was getting I believe was
unable to load module /usr/lib/vmware/vmkmod/vmfs3: failure -

Depending on the version of ESXi there are different drivers pre-loaded. If a supported driver exists you can utilize Image Builder and create your own ISO.

The guest will continue to run past the 60 day mark. However, if you reboot the host you will not be able to power them on again until a license key is entered. You can create a VMware account and request a free limited vSphere license.

That honestly sounds over my head… Is it all based on the nic ? If so I would just buy a compatible nic if needed...

Buy and intel or broadcom server nic, or four.
