Will a ASIX AX88772 USB->ethernet be a bottleneck on domestic ADSL (20/1)

At work there a a bunch of old laptops with missing keys, minor screen faults damaged hinges and so on. I want to re-purpose one to experiment with pfSense at home. To add a second network port I was thinking of getting one of these:

I have UK domestic ADSL with about 20M down and around 1M up.
I have also scrounged an old Daytek Vigor 120v2 ADSL modem.Does this make sense? Advice please…

If it works in pfsense it probably won't be a bottleneck. I did a quick google search and came up with this thread: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=66967.0
Another choice might be a low end "smart" switch, which would allow you to use a single NIC with VLANS and have multiple virtual interfaces coming out of the switch. The TP-LINK TL-SG108E comes to mind.

@whosmatt Thanks for that, the smart switch does seem like a better idea, and they only cost around 25UKP, about twice he cost of the usr->ethernet thingy.
