Throttling issue after upgrade to 2.2.6
-
Hi,
I tried upgrading a virtual PFSense i386 firewall from 2.2 to 2.2.6, but noticed that the throughput was much reduced following the upgrade. On the console the message below was repeated continuously:
"interrupt storm detected on irq10 throttling interrupt source."
I reverted to a snapshot but is there anything I can try to fix this issue with the upgrade? There aren't any traffic shaping rules configured or virtual USB devices attached.
Many thanks.

What is on irq10?
Post the contents of /var/log/dmesg.boot and "vmstat -i"
Also, if your VM hypervisor can run 64-bit VMs, you should be running pfSense as amd64, not i386.
And if your VM has a virtual CD-ROM drive attached, try disconnecting it and rebooting the VM.

Thank-you for your help. Will I have to create a new PFSense appliance to switch to the 64bit version? I think I read on the upgrade guide that 32bit can't be upgraded to 64bit directly.
Here's the results of the vmstat -I command:
Interrupt:
irq0: attimer0
irq1: atkbd0
irq9: le1 acpi0
irq10: le0 le2
irq14: ata0
irq15: ata1I've attached a screenshot of the dmesq.boot file.
Thanks

Eew, le NICs. Is that on vmware?
On 2.2.x you should be using vmxnet3 NICs, or at least e1000, never le.
Sounds like maybe you should redo the appliance anyhow.

That's great, thanks Jimp. I'll take your advice and install a new 64bit appliance with VMXNET adapters.
Much obliged!
