Kill session - it shouldn't be this hard….
-
Hi guys,
I have an interesting one where we have students who have to do exams at various times during a day. I want them to have full session time during this period.
What I need is an easy way for them to kill their own session so they can start with a new (4 hour in my case) session before the hard time out.
The logout popup does not work and would probably not suffice anyway. I would like them to have a URL they can go to that kills 'em. I have trolled through the forum for ages and have seen all sorts of weird and wonderful ways but none seem to quite do what I want. It does not have to be fancy, just operational. Even a blank page after logout is acceptable!
All exams are done on iPad
I am on V 2.1.5
I use radius MySQL auth (on another server) with captive portal.I also don't want to delete the un/pwd from radius as it is populated from Oracle 2x a day.
All I need is to kill the session.
Any tips would save me a lot of grey hair !!
Thanks.

"I am on V 2.1.5"
"Any tips would save me a lot of grey hair !!"Run a currently supported version if you want any help would be my suggestion to be honest.

would the solution be different if I was on 2.3?
Unfortunately I have extremely limited windows of opportunity to take the server down for an upgrade.
I will give it a try in the early AM this weekend but don't see how this will change the issue.

How it would change the issue is you would be a version that people are using, vs one that has not been in common use for well over a year and no longer supported.
Not a captive portal user, but pretty sure there has been lots of changes to it in the 8 releases of pfsense that have happened since your current version.
