2.3 Feedback
-
Overall Im happy but there are issues. None of which are show stoppers and I hope will eventually be moot as 2.3 matures.
Pros:
– Interface is faster.
-- Install went smooth on new hardware.Cons:
-- NUT package seems to no longer be supported.
-- Snort widget seems to no longer work.
-- Miss the old RRD graphs. The new method works and is interesting but requires a constant changing of parameters to get what I want whereas before I just viewed an area and had everything.
--vnstat no longer supported.Con but probably not 2.3 related:
--Suricata continually would run a script about "wanip" in which my dhcp address would be lost. After doing this many time it would end up being stuck with 0.0.0.0 or not IP address. Additionally tcpdump would see 00:00:00:00 mac addresses on the wan interface although ifconfig showed the proper MAC. Replacing Suricata with Snort solved the issue. -

Just curious- How is this a pfSense story?
I came here to see how someone else implements their solutions. Just sayin!

Me too - But maybe there is an opportunity here - Not sure.
I like the new layout of monitoring, but I think it would be more useful if there was a "+" button where you could add a a graph and then define what it would display and that graph would always appear under status > monitoring until you deleted it by pressing a "-" button. It would be nice to be able to define a bunch like this that would always show up when you went to status > monitoring
I'm sure this comment will get moved somewhere else more appropriate.

The RRD Graphs were one my most used features and gave me quick overview on the installed system. The new way of displaying data is completely unusable, ugly and missing lots of data, that were available before. Please rework this anoying hipster failure. >:(
