And now they have come up with the official solution for 1100 and 2100… politely I didn’t write this before, but I’m not surprised I guessed it… the gave the finger and woke reinstall from scratch is the only solution.
Looks like these are the advantages of official supported hardware!

Pardon me but there is no fix for your system that has too-small a partition except re-imaging.

The engineers are still working on getting the script tested and verified so that if your system has too small a EFI partition the upgrade attempt stops so that it does not keep it from being bootable.

@rcoleman-netgate Q: will 1100/2100 that are not on 22.05, and can't upgrade to 23.01, be able to upgrade to 22.05? We have a few non-managed clients that had not yet upgraded to 22.05, and can only get to 23.01 via reinstall, which means an on-site visit.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@steveits They should but you want to make sure you set the right upgrade branch.

@_chadtech Yes. Apparently the post unpins itself (??) but https://forum.netgate.com/topic/178049/pfsense-plus-23-01-updates-on-the-1100-and-2100-systems/.

Short version: they're working on a way for unaffected devices to upgrade, or you can manually reinstall if you don't want to wait.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.

We can set that for a period of time, not permanently, it appears. Or at least I can only do it for a period of time.
