How to put Proxmox host behind pfSense VM
-
Here is my setup:
WAN -> Server (Proxmox host) IP 10.0.0.x -> pfSense ip 10.0.0.x (VM on Proxmox host) > switch ip 192.168.1.x
I would like to put my Proxmox host behind the firewall.
Is it possible?
Is it a good practice?
Is it the good way to do it?
I am new to this and I need your help with my homelab!

That depends on your setup.
You should ensure that you can access Proxmox even if pfSense is down or stuck. Otherwise your possibility to intervene depends on the availability of two devices. If your PC is behind pfSense in the LAN this is the best practice at all.

That depends on how your Proxmox interfaces are configured. The most common way is to set up bridges to connect VMs to physical NIC.
If you have it like this, simply assign an IP to Proxmox on the LAN side bridge and remove the IP from the WAN bridge. -
@viragomann I will try after work. Thank you!
