      Hello,
I have a weird situation. I have 1Gb connection. When I run PFSense from VirtualBox, I get less than half speed (250-310). But if I run it from Hyper-V, the speed increases to a satisfactory level (500-700), but the moment I connect the system to the L2 Dlink 1210 switches, they detect error packages and the ports shutdown. Same configuration, nothing happenes with VirtualBox. Does anyone have a solution? I want either with VirtualBox, but fast, or what could be wrong with Hyper-V? I am using Windows Server 2019.
      Thanks

@mure Virtual box is never a performance solution
As for hyper-v it should work.
Check duplex/speed settings on your switches.

        Also check speed with iperf3.
You should get full speed results under any hypervisor

What NICs are you using in your host? I use an Intel i340 4-port, Server 2012R2, and my tiny VM was able to do 400Mbps (the fastest line I've had).

@provels The dlink switches are the trouble. Now same happaning with IPfire in VirtualBox. And the technical team of Dlink doesn't know what is wrong.

I'm using D-Link DGS 1210-xx on 7 different sites , and have had no issues with them.

You say they shut down their intefaces , please describe a bit more in detail.

@bingo600 I was running PFsense in WIN-Ser-2019 VirtualBox. The internet speed is slow, so I tried with Hyper-v, and result was double speed. As I connected the switches to the server, they all started acting like x-mas light, turning on and off, the configuration are getting erased, IP to 10.90.90.90, but password doesn't change. Previously I was using IPfire with Virtualbox, and everything was going well, but suddenly since last week they are acting the same. Now I have installed the PFsense directly to a PC, now it's working perfect, after the the last firmware update (I did it day before yesterdy) the 1210 VLAN isn't working anymore, I have to put all port as undagged, if I use tagged for the router connection, no internet. It wasn't the case before update.

Don't you have the old firmware on the switch too ?
I seem to remember the 1210 has dual banks to firmware.

I have never seen anything like that , XMAS-Tree on the leds , or a switch config-reset.

Where did you get the firmware from ?

@bingo600 The first one was default, I bought the devices last December and the new one is from the Dlink website. Well, now I have put all the port as untagged and turnd the safeguard off. Now they are working again.
