      Greetings,

I have a rack mounted netgate router, not 100% sure on model, but it has an addon card with two additional 10G sfps. Anyway, I have it setup currently connected to a 1G Cisco Switch over Fiber SFP. Its Trunked on the Cisco Side. Vlans setup on the Pfsense side on the fiber interface. It all works. My question is I'm adding vmware into the environment and getting away from the 1 Operating System on 1 box approach. Adding docker, etc. I have purchased an Intel X520-DA2 and ran DAC cable to the pfsense since I have no available Fiber ports on the switch. I did see it was not recommend to run a bridge on both fiber interfaces and assign the vlans to the bridge. I was considering creating a vlan just for the ESXI server, and its vms. My question is how do I set that up on the VMware and Pfsense side. Do I remove the vlan tag from vmware, and set a static ip on the interface on pfsense to act as the gateway, then set the vmware management ip for the fiber interface to be inside the subnet I gave to the pfsense interface? Does this make sense?
