I will be moving to Germany and am curious can OpenVPN be configured to stream media content ie: Netflixs, Amazon prime, etc... and if yes is there step by step instructions to install and configure it. Or can NordVPN be configured to use with Pfsense

@kdmiller61 The short answer is yes to all questions. Whatever VPN provider you settle on will likely have instructions.

@kdmiller61 said in OpenVPN config for overseas:

Or can "whatevercommercial-VPN be configured ?

If you were a international media stream cooperation, what would you do ?
Or, what do you have to do ?
The contract you signed with the major movie production companies, like Disney etc do stipulate that you have the right to use a movie for a select public. "select" is always "per country".

There is no such thing as, for example, "here are the three Aliens movies and you can propose them to everybody on planet earth". Movie distribution rights are always "country" restricted.

          Now back to your question.
It's understandable that you want to use your Canadian or American or English Netflix account to see movies from those countries. The German netflix is in German, and probably no VO .... and, as stated, not the same movies.

Netflix knows about VPNs - and can - and will - and has to - block (most) of them, as they can not really allow that foreigners watch movies not intended to them.
The fact to you shouldn't be focussed with these restrictions is just a case of "false positive".

You should use a VPN connection right know, and check if you can watch movies using your media platform. hen your in Germany, use the same VPN, and it will work also.
Or, if possible : set up a OpenVPN at home, where you are right now (or are you really moving internationality ?). When your are in Germany, VPN into your home VPN, and now you use your home connection to visit your media platform, as before.

Btw : N*rdVPN might say their services work with all media platform. The reality : test it for yourself first.

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
Edit : and where are the logs ??

And even if they work today, noone guarantees they will tomorrow.
If you have the necessary upload at home, vpn to home@home country is the better option.
