Is it better to connect wifi router via vlan and opt port using router WAN port or just connect using LAN port and no vlan or opt? Using vlan and opt allows router dhcp IP to ID user as from wifi router.

I just have my access point on my main LAN. Is there some need to identify how someone is connected?

PfSense running on Qotom mini PC
i5 CPU, 4 GB memory, 32 GB SSD & 4 Intel Gb Ethernet ports.
        UniFi AC-Lite access point

        I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...

It is not clear what you mean.
Connecting a wifi router to a local lan via its wan port would effectively do double nat and hide all ip's

(if this what you are doing)

For simplicity connect any LAN port from your network to a LAN port on the WiFi Router. Be sure and set the IP address of the WiFi Router.
If you choose to use a VLAN it is best if the WiFi router supports VLANs. If you simply use a spare pfSense port then that LAN connection may requires rules to allow access to the other LANs in your network.

Most people start with LAN port to LAN port and then improve from there. The make it work then make it better theory.

There's no difference, in connection terms, between using LAN or and OPT interface in pfSense. Neither require a VLAN unless you don't have an OPT NIC. Using OPT gives you more fine grained control over wireless vs wired connections of course.
But, yes, it is better in almost every way to remove the double NAT and use the wifi router as a pure access point:
