Hello fellow Netgate community members can you please help? I have a small issue with my system backup. When I restore the the backup file on a system that contains packages Squidguard, Squid, and Watchdog the restore fails and will not continue at package reinstall of Squidguard on each restore test.

I have to clear the package lock, wait for the PID for the process for Squidguard to stop, after uninstall, and reinstall Squidguard manually before the internet access is restored to the systems attached to the firewall. I also must manually disable the Watchdog package settings.

Once Squidguard is manually restored the Netgate firewall system normalizes.

Is there any work around for more of a automated restore? Sometimes the PID running specifically for reinstall of Squidguard blocks even the manual reinstall or manual uninstall of Squidguard. This can be drastically improved with stability and priority based package installs.

One could say that Watchdog package should be uninstalled first and reinstalled last because the log issues seen during the package reinstalls. Reason for this is once Watchdog is reinstalled and personal settings loaded it will continue to restart all non running services during the backup restore and package reimages causing issues.
