Vlan stuck on interface
-
I've been troubleshooting some constant errors on my LAN interface and found a bad SFP.
Swapped it out and no more errors on LAN but I noticed I get errors on 3 vlans with the LAN as their parent interface.
I don't reboot often but since there's no other way to clear the interface statistics ( anyone know why this is?? ) I have been rebooting while troubleshooting.
This is how I noticed the vlan errors, they only happen on startup, then no incrementing at all. I also turned down the vlan interface, rebooted, showed no errors on that interface, then turned it up and got the errors again.
So I moved one vlan to a physical interface, reboot, no errors on that interface.
Tried to move a second vlan to another physical interface and after applying, it stay on the vlan interface.
tried to reboot then switch it again, no luck.
It will not move from the vlan interface.
There's nothing different about this vlan's config than the other one. No bridge, LAGG or anything else.
What else could be locking it to the vlan interface? -
@jarhead Are you actually seeing a problem or just a few counters and only when you reboot? Lots of things happen when a system is rebooted and not just on the pfSense side. Assuming you're connected to a switch which also will run through some link up/link down procedures. If I was only seeing a few error counters on reboot and then no further incrementing or problems, I would personally move on to something else.
You'll likely need to send screen shots of the interface assignment page and detail exactly what you are doing to attempt to reassign the VLAN to the physical if.
