Pfsense as VPN using openVPN
-
I am trying to implement VPN using Pfsense and OpenVPN. My host machine is windows 10. I have installed pfsense in VirtualBox which is running on that host machine. I am accessing the web GUI of pfsense from ubuntu(installed on VB as I am not able to access the web GUI from my host machine). I have created a user and transferred that config file to another machine(from another network) to check the connectivity, but the connection is not establishing and getting the error as
Tue Sep 6 14:17:28 2022 SIGUSR1[connection failed(soft),init_instance] received, process restarting
Tue Sep 6 14:17:33 2022 TCP/UDP: Preserving recently used remote address: [AF_INET]1xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1194
Tue Sep 6 14:17:33 2022 Attempting to establish TCP connection with [AF_INET]1xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1194 [nonblock]
and the same thing is repeating. Need help to setup a VPN.
I am new to both networking & pfsense.
Thanks in advance.

I agree youtube has a lot of useful information contributed by many people.
However Google is a large company legally responsible to shareholders to make a profit, which it does very well. It does so by providing bait for free, then selling it's catch to Google's actual customers. Google's product (you and I) is most valuable if those people think Google is a charity, just being nice to them.
It is very unlikely Google is really just being friendly to you.

Seems you have an issue to access the VM in VirtualBox generally. So you should correct this at first.

@opit-gmbh Even I tried his method & exactly did just like him, but even so am not able to establish a connection between my server & client. I am sure am making some error but am not sure where & what has to be changed. My guess is I am messing with the IP's that are being used in settings or the network type which I have used in my virtual box.

its hard to help you here. how pfsense get internet access? with a public IP or is there a router between of your pfsense and the internet?!
how do you try to connect with OpenVPN, with your external IP? -
@opit-gmbh There is no router in between my pfsense & internet. My host machine acts as a gateway i assume as i am hosting pfsense from virtualbox.

its hard to help you, there can be many things witch are wrong. without having a look into your router, its not possible for me to help you (maybe others)
