Just wondering why it says 23.01. are we actually missing 2 releases (22.09 and 22.11) Is pfsense dead or dying or are we getting a release? thanks.

@techpro2004 What are you talking about? Missing two what? The release of 22.09 was pushed to 22.11 long ago, there was news and blog posts about that - seems you missed them? That would make it "one release" if that's what you're talking.
With the added strain of merging to FreeBSD14, PHP8.1, checking all the freaking additional packages for PHP bugs and pulling new code (like new wireguard etc.) releasing in that short of a window since the announcement of the move to FreeBSD 14 current would be a bugfest waiting to happen. And those that are shouting for releases would be the first to complain about the state of such a release, the bugs, lazy code blah blah etc. etc.
So what's the endgame? Should they release it at any cost only to have 3-4 heavy bugfix releases afterwards and people shouting about the unstable releases etc. or do we want a stable firewall release? Sorry, don't need a "Cyberpunk 2077" release to happen (if you pardon the take on the gaming industry).

Yeah sure buddy... Just looking at my 2.7-dev box or the plus-dev branch (and forums!) shows the heavy work that is happening daily. Even without such nonsense comments.
Also one should always consider "human" things like holidays, thanksgiving etc. that's gonna happen this month. Finish a rebasing and big upgrade while a holiday's right around the corner and you can't have your (dev) crew up and about to fix potential bugs afterwards ASAP beacuse they are off? Not that good of a plan. So pushing that for an additional two months (hopefully without crunch) and adapting the plan is far better than sticking to a plan that has so many ways to go wrong in the first plan.
Cheers.

Indeed, the October "marketing" newsletter from Netgate referenced holidays/vacations and said 22.11 would become 23.01. I don't think that was in their blog though, that I see.
"The current pfSense Plus software release schedule will be:
• 23.01 (January 2023)
• 23.05 (May 2023)
• 23.09 (September 2023)" -
My question is more around what feature are you waiting on or what bug are you waiting to get fixed?
I personally hate upgrading, there is always the chance the upgrade goes bad and a simple upgrade becomes a drawn out fix session. And I also have a fear of finding an undocumented behavior that adversely affects my network. (a bug)Uptime 72 Days 02 Hours 57 Minutes 00 Seconds
Sounds like I will get 120+ days out of this run... -
@techpro2004 Are you done? Really? Are you? Do you troll every software maker when they're not releasing on your schedule?
Here's another place you do this: https://forum.libreelec.tv/user-post-list/30117-techpro2004/

We knew the dates of the holidays when 22.11 was announced, so why announce it if netgate can not keep it. For that reason, I can not accept it is due to the holidays.

@techpro2004
If it is unacceptable to you, you can always look somewhere else!
Some people are just unbelievable!
Let the developer do their job and when it is ready it is ready. -

That's nice, dear.
