Captive portal + transparent proxy : Any solution?
-
Hello guys,
I successfully create my captive portal with PfSense but now I need to conserve internet logs from a transparent proxy.I know this isn't possible to have an authentification from the CP and a transparent proxy.
But I need one so I wonder, is there any solution?
Add a transparent proxy on the same subnet where the CP is effective, then regroup the information with a script?
Any help is appreciated, thanks by advance

"I know this isn't possible to have an authentification from the CP and a transparent proxy." But it's possible. Squid Proxy Server -> Authentication Method -> CP.

I too am experiencing an issue with the Captive Portal + proxy (transparent) + lightsquid and I think it is related.
I have the captive portal authenticated with Radius (working). In the proxy service page I have gone to services>proxy>authentication and selected CP but lightsquid still shows a "?" in the name column for the logs. What am I missing. Do you have to do anything after selecting CP on the authentication tab?
Aside from not logging the name of the user, everything else seems ok….but the username would obviously be very useful!
Any help help would be greatly appreciated.

Dear,
if I use captive portal on OPT1 and squid in transparent mode and lightsquid, then PORT 80 is open on the private LAN-Interface!!!
SQUID overrides the block rules for private LAN-Interface.
Any solution?

No. Not until someone writes proper hooks for ipfw to be used in packages. Cf. https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/5594
