      Hi,

im new to pfsense and i try to assign a untagged VLAN to an physical interface.

i could not make it work - i did something and i don't know why it works now.

i created a second pfsense interface and assigned it the hardwareport igb1
and i changed the original pfsense interface to the VLAN.

Now i get the right dhcp lease and traffic goes through.

Why does it work now and why do i need a second interface instead of assigning just the VLAN to the original interface?

      thanks :)

@BeardDemon An untagged VLAN on an interface is the interface itself without a VLAN.

i think as i am writing the response, the knot i my brain untied and i think i know now where i was wrong. i will try it out tomorrow.

the setup is 3 IF on the pfsense box (wan, if1 to switch, if2 fallback)
the switch should be in vlan 69 and the configuration should be done on the switch not in pfsense

thank you for your quick response :)
