I'm running the latest version of pfSense under VirtualBox on a Dell server with a 4-port Intel NIC. OS is Windows Server 2019.

The network runs great for a short period, then the gateway reports packet loss and goes offline.

The whole network goes offline, but the internet is still up on the Dell server.

I'm monitoring the gateway through 8.8.8.8. You cannot reach the Google DNS through pfSense once the GW goes offline, but I can open a CMD window on the server and reach it just fine.

I'm at a loss at this point and would welcome any advice.

What MTU are you using? Also is your cable that connects look damaged? Run a cable tester on it.

It's not a physical problem with the WAN connection.

pfSense reports excessive latency and packet loss and then shuts down the gateway.

However, the WAN port is physically up and runs clean outside of pfSense directly on the hosting server.

What is 10.0.2.2 there? Are you NATing in VBox or bridging?
