pfsense on proxmox - no DHCP - no internet
-
Hi,
I'm running pfsense in a vm on Proxmox on a Miniforum ms-01.
WAN is connected to i266-V intel Nic with DHCP and bridge mode from ISP router on 192.168.0.0/24 IP/subnet.
LAN is i226-lm to unmanaged switch / Dumb AP / ethernet to computer on 192.168.1.0/24 IP/subnet.
ISP modem is giving DHCP address to Proxmox / Pfsense no problem.
However, LAN will not provide DHCP to LAN devices, static assigned IP works fine though. Nor can I access internet, ping sites, etc.(I read on another post that vPRO can block DHCP, unsure if this is true)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@penne
Did you pass-through the NIC to the pfSense VM? -
@viragomann Correct. Both NICs are passed through. I am able to set a static IP and load all local services (pfsense, Proxmox, Plex, etc) and pfsense has internet.

@penne said in pfsense on proxmox - no DHCP - no internet:
Both NICs are passed through.
So I'm wondering, how Proxmox gets an IP from the ISP router. Or did I understood wrong?
I'm not sure if the NIC is supported properly in pfSense. You could remove the pass-through and configure Bridges in Proxmox instead. So Debian would to the hardware management.

@viragomann Sorry I misunderstood you and should have clarified in my original post. Both are setup as bridge connections. WAN is setup as a bridge to my ISP router and uses DHCP while my LAN has a set range of 192.168.1.0/24 and a gateway of 192.168.1.1.

@penne
So pfSense just sees the virtual NIC. Do you use the virtio type? This should work well.WAN is setup as a bridge to my ISP router and uses DHCP
So on the WAN bridge Proxmos has no IP set?
while my LAN has a set range of 192.168.1.0/24 and a gateway of 192.168.1.1.
Are you talking about the Proxmox bridge?
192.168.1.0/24 is a network address. If you want to give Proxmox an IP on the LAN you have to state a usable one.And the gateway is pfSense?
And you have also no IP / network set on a member interface in Proxmox?

Here are some screen shots I should have put in my original post (enp89s0 is for LAN and enp87s0 is for WAN)

@penne
Looks well.Did you disable hardware checksum offloading?
