      Are there drivers to make an AX101 adapter work?
      I can't find any search results anywhere with FBSD, nor pfsense.

          I also see this in dmesg:

          ipw_bss: You need to read the LICENSE file in /usr/share/doc/legal/intel_ipw.LICENSE.
          ipw_bss: If you agree with the license, set legal.intel_ipw.license_ack=1 in /boot/loader.conf.
          

          I will set that and reboot...

            That pretty much just an informational message and doesn't affect anything AFAIK. Also, if you're looking to have the Intel card perform as an access point, I doubt it will work, at least in my experience. Intel cards work as clients to an AP but not as an AP themselves. Atheros AR9280 and AR9380 cards do. Just throwing this out there in case that's where you're headed, will prevent some hair-pulling. Ignore as needed!
