24.0 Goes GA...

It's official!

yep :
I always hate this moment.
My right hand index finger really want to press on that left mouse button to click on 'upgrade'.
My brain says : "Activate the 48 hours countdown now, check out the forum, see for reactions first".A fact, for me, is : 24.03-RC was perfect. There are probably issues, but I found 'none'.
edit :
The blog post isn't even published yet :
=> it should be here : https://www.netgate.com/blog/tag/pfsense but nothing there yet.

@Gertjan I've been running each build throughout this development cycle and it's been solid for me.
And Netgate always seems to publish their press releases a few days later - at least that's what I've noticed.
-
Days ?
This time it was like minutes :The RSS feed on the dashboard wasn't updated yet, as it uses a cache mechanism.
-
@Gertjan Not that it matters, but I have noticed that their press releases do not always align with when something is first released or made available for download. As you noticed earlier, it was not published until after. I have seen it take days on prior versions and imagine that's by design.

6100 MAX total upgrade time: 10 minutes
-
Success.
-
The blog post etc should go up at the same time but sometimes there are bumps in the road.
-
And now we have 24.03_1!

I think it is 24.03 Patch 1 and not 24.03_1 indeed.
If you check the GUI, doesn't show 24.03_1.But when you boot, it shows 24.03 Patch 1
-
It's a minor update to address a missing pkg for arm64 installs. It's a no-op for amd64 and armv7 so there's no rush to install it.
See the post update: https://forum.netgate.com/post/1164332

I copied that version no. right from the update page, although it doesn’t say anything different post-upgrade.

Yes the patch version there doesn't change the displayed version after the update.
You can check the pkg version:
[24.03-RELEASE][root@4100-3.stevew.lan]/root: pkg info pfSense pfSense-24.03_1 Name : pfSense Version : 24.03_1 Installed on : Wed Apr 24 19:46:04 2024 BST Origin : security/pfSense

I’m going to start uninstalling Suricata and pfBlockerNG from now on for any subsequent upgrades. It’s still taking about 10 minutes to timeout on my 6100 MAX which started with the first RC release. Not a big deal and at least we know what’s happening now!
