Wireless router not connecting...
-
I don't have any network experience but I bought netgate 1100 to setup and confused on how to connect the wireless router. I followed all the instructions. My existing home has modem from the provider and seperate wireless router. I configured and followed all the steps and setup netgate and connected to the modem; changed the ip address and everything. Then connected the wireless router to netgate and there is no internet going through the router. What steps did i miss? Is there something else i need to do in pfsense to connect the wireless router? Any help is appreciated.

Does internet work when you connect a PC directly under the Netgate 1100 and get a LAN IP?
What are the settings of your WAN and LAN of the Netgate, as well as the WAN and LAN of the wireless router? Without much information here, my first guess is that the LAN of your Netgate 1100 is 192.168.1.0/24, and your wireless router LAN is also set to 192.168.1.0/24, and this will not work.

@PlyrStar93 Thanks for replying. Yes I have internet when I have the netgate connected to the modem and to the computer via ethernet. Its when I try to connect the wireless router to netgate that there is no wifi. I followed all the instructions on the setup manual and changed the ip on the modem to 192.168.2.0 so they don't conflict as stated in the manual. When I log into the modem dashboard of the provider the ip shows up as 192.168.2.0. I read somewhere that I need to disable the dchp of the wireless router? I am not sure how I do this. I have not changed any other settings on the pfsense except the modem ip address.

What is the LAN range of your Netgate? Can you check it under the LAN interface Static IPv4 Configuration? Note that if you only configured WAN and LAN, the wireless router needs to be connected to LAN of the Netgate. If you didn't configure OPT interface, you can't connect your device there.
Can you log into the wireless router and post screenshots of the WAN and LAN status and settings? Here is an example of where these settings are located in a Netgear router (others can be different):
You may also connect your PC hard wired to your wireless router LAN port, then do a traceroute on the PC to an outside IP e.g. 8.8.8.8, see if it goes out.
You don't necessarily have to disable DHCP on the wireless router. Connect the WAN port of your wireless router and connect the devices onto LAN ports, it can work if it's set up correctly. Some routers can also be configured as what's called "AP mode", where there is no need to set up WAN/LAN/DHCP/etc. within the wireless router, but not all routers have this mode.

Thanks again. I followed your instructions and looks like I was not connecting the wires between the netgate and wireless router correctly. I have the wifi running good now. I do have another question on how I can setup a miner via ethernet to the netgate. I have 3 miners I want to connect. I got the netgate so the miners can be seperate from the wifi network being used for regular use. Would I use the opt 1 to setup the miners? Is there anything else I would have to change in the pfsense?

Yes, put them on OPT1. Enable it with a different subnet. Enable DHCP on OPT1. Add appropriate firewall rules to allow or prevent connections as you want.
