[SOLVED] SNMP not working on some devices
-
Hello,
I have been trying to monitor some of my clients' pfSense devices via SNMP using Zabbix, but SNMP only works for some clients, even though it is configured exactly the same way.
What I did:
- Enabled SNMP
- Set the community
- Selected the WAN interface
- Created a rule on the WAN to allow requests to the WAN on port 161
This same scenario was configured on several machines running pfSense, all on version 2.7.2. However, it only works on some, and there is nothing unusual in the logs for me to analyze. The WAN rule on devices where SNMP does not work does not show any connections/traffic.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Or does anyone have any ideas on what could be the issue?

Solved, just changed the default 161 port to a higher port and, somehow, it works

@marcos20 Hi.
I'm having the same problem. I did NAT from port 61161 to WAN address 161 UDP and nothing. Can you explain in more detail how you configured it?

@Roberto-Marcelino on services -> SNMP -> Polling Port change from default 161 to another port, then restart the service

@marcos20 Hello!
I changed the port from 161 to 61161 and still the same problem. Zabbix doesn't recognize it.
I tested in another monitoring environment (Observium) and managed to add pfSense through port 61161.
pfSense has no specific rules for SNMP. There is a rule (Floating) where I enable ports coming from certain sources (IPs) to any port and destination in pfSense.

Any ideas?

@Roberto-Marcelino did you set the same community on pfsense snmp config and zabbix? Other than that, i think you just need to allow traffic from your zabbix to your wan interface on port 61161.
After you do those things, try to create the host on zabbix again
