      Suricata v7.0.7

Look for an update of the Suricata package in all pfSense branches (CE Release, Plus Release, and Devel Snapshots) to appear soon. This is an update of the underlying Suricata binary only.

Release Notes for the new binary are available here: https://forum.suricata.io/t/suricata-7-0-7-released/4877. This update from upstream addresses six CVE security advisories as detailed in the linked release notes.

I'm a little late getting this update posted because I live in the area of South Georgia in the U.S. that was severely impacted by Hurricane Helene. The eastern eye wall came right over us. I live nearly 160 miles inland from where the storm made landfall and we still had 100 MPH plus wind gusts in my small town due to its strength at landfall and forward speed. I was without power for 9 days and without Internet service for 11 days. I was lucky to have no structural damage and only lost a ton trees on my property to the storm, but many of my friends and neighbors lost vehicles (crushed by falling trees) and suffered damage to their homes (again from falling trees). There are quite a few whose homes are now not habitable and/or their roof is open to the sky. We occasionally do experience hurricanes here, but they are usually down to weak tropical storm strength when they get to us this far inland and thus don't cause much damage. Helene was one for the record books!

Thanks! Listening to the howling wind and hearing the house crack and creak, I felt like Jim Cantore of Weather Channel fame when he broadcasts live from within a major storm 😀.

Lost power at 2:05 AM according to my pfSense UPS log. The storm woke me up at 2:10 AM, and then my wife and I both got up and rode it out until a little past 5:00 AM when it finally calmed down a bit. It caught everyone here a bit by surprise as the hurricane was originally forecast to take a left turn and head northwest after landfall. Instead, it continued barrelling northeast and wound up coming right over us. It did not make that predicted left turn until it was already in North Carolina.

@bmeeks Thanks! Anyone know why Netgate hasn't released it yet since it contains fixes for 6 CVEs all rated high or critical?

I think it's waiting on the 24.11 pfSense Plus release (or at least the next Beta or RC version). The changes were merged into the DEVEL snapshots branch but not yet into the CE branch. Beyond that I must defer to the Netgate team for any additional details or reasons.

@bmeeks Glad to hear that you're ok, thank you for the Suricata release, even in these conditions.
