No DNS entry for OpenVPN client?
-
Hello all,
My OpenVPN client connects to PfSense. When I run nslookup on my OpenVPN client, I can enter hostnames of any PfSense LAN clients and get an IP address, but when I try to lookup the hostname of my OpenVPN client (in other words I am trying to find myself in nslookup), it does not show up (see below, the OpenVPN client is "asusvivobook" and has an ip address of 192.168.121.2).
Is this something that should work given a correct configuration?
C:\Users\xxx>nslookup Default Server: UnKnown Address: 192.168.121.1 > zotac Server: UnKnown Address: 192.168.121.1 Name: zotac.localdomain Address: 192.168.110.143 > xbox Server: UnKnown Address: 192.168.121.1 Name: xbox.localdomain Address: 192.168.30.88 > asusvivobook Server: UnKnown Address: 192.168.121.1 *** UnKnown can't find asusvivobook: Non-existent domain >

You want to register OpenVPN clients into the local DNS, like this :
