Problem with pfsense on proxmox
-
Hi everyone,
I have a little problem on one installation.
Recently i have installed pfsense on proxmox, because i want to try to use the same server for more application.The server is the : TOPTON Intel i226V 6x2.5G 12th Gen i3-1215U Intel i226V pfSense Firewall Router 2 xddr5 NVMe Proxmox Mini PC Computer Soft Mini Host
RAM 16GB
SSD nvme 250GBActually the pfsense is installed with 2 core, 4gb RAM and 32gb SSD
enp2s0 -> WAN ( linked to ISP modem - DMZ and non filter or whatever )
enp3s0 -> LAN-S1
enp4s0 -> LAN-S2
enp5s0 -> LAN-O
The three lan are bridged together.
I installed pfsense easily and seems work fine for the first days.After some time start dropping package on the WAN and lost connection for a few second then come back online and repeat this problem every 3-4 minutes.
Apparently i have solved this problem changing the IP address of the pfsense WAN ( seems that proxmox use the same ip for a brig connection on this port ).Now I have an other problem that i can't figured out :
After some time pfsense and proxmox freeze and both became unreachable and un-pingable ( on wan and lan side ); the only way to bring the system online again is to restart the server.
I look at both log but i cant see noting relevant.Any one have some ideas ?
Thx -
So all those NICs are passed through to pfSense? And then the LANs bridged in pfSense?
When it stops responding can you get onto the Proxmox console and connect out?

Hi @stephenw10 ; sry dident see the section virtualization
Exactly, all the NIC are passed trought to pfSense and then bridged in pfSense
No, also proxmox crash when pfSense crash ( unlikly i don't know witch one stop working first ).
Proxmox have a dedicated NIC separated form pfSense; i try to ping proxmox on this nic but i have no response ( time out ).
Is like the server completly disappears; the light on the RJ45 connector are on with some random blinking ( few blinking ).Thx

Hmm, that seems more like a hardware issue in the server then.
Is it still responsive locally if you connect to the console?
