      Re: DDoS protection for PfSense

      Good morning,

Is there a solution for Denial of Service? We are using a pFsense firewall SG 2100 and have encountered DOS for almost one week. We are updated in the latest version, no issues with the memory and storage of the appliance not full, and the logs are working very well.

      Thank you

@chris-doldolia what exactly was that DOS ?
did you had too much traffic and ports requests on your WAN side ?
        and maybe pings?

@chris-doldolia yeah lets see some details of this dos.. You sure your just not seeing internet noise?

But there is nothing a firewall can do against a volumetric dos.. If you have a 100mbps connection, and someone is sending gig of traffic, nothing a firewall can do - that has to be handled upstream of your connection.

Denial of Service, DOS for short. We have 3 ISPs connected to the firewall, if one ISP has high traffic there will be an effect on the network?

@chris-doldolia could but just block that - that is not filling your single pipe..

You know a lot of users new to pfsense and first see all the noise they see on the internet and they think they are being attacked ;)

Lets see this this dos.. You said your pfsense is logging just fine - so lets see some of this attack..
