Check out System > Advanced > Multi-Instance Management. It's now a package so it can be updated like other packages.

@marcosm Ok.. thanks. I'm aware of the existance of mim (as NOT as man in the middle)
        as a new pfsense feature.

I understand it now has a name too.

        Good to know :)

Does this also mean that it's save to uninstall/remove it, if you don't need or use it?

@marcosm Interesting. So MIM is a package now. Interesting. Curious, why not make it part of base install?

It's installed by default in Plus like the firmware updater for example.

Having it as a package means it can be user updated between main releases. There is a lot of development happening there so it's likely we will update it.

@stephenw10 Ok so i run all my hardware on Plus so its baked in but if i had CE, then that's an optional package? Just to be clear.

No, it's not available in CE.

@stephenw10 ah ok understood. So its part of the base install albiet a separate package update.
Does that mean an admin can remove the package and therefore not have MIM anymore?

You could in the current version but it will probably become irremovable at some point. However it will be reinstalled at upgrade if you do.

@michmoor it is part of the base install, this lets us update it outside of a release
