Nexus / MIM for Dummies
-
With 25.07 imminent, I decided to kick the tires of Nexus on my 6100.
I tried to follow the guidance from:
- Netgate Nexus Controller Setup
- Netgate Nexus Licensing
- Netgate Nexus Options in the pfSense Plus WebGUI
- Instance Registration
But, I failed (I think? or maybe I succeeded?). Got a handful of API errors and failure toasts. Is this feature not operational yet, or is something wrong with the buttons I'm pressing?
Here are some assorted screenshots:
-
When you enable MIM you only need to register additional instances. The pfSense+ instance that Nexus is running on doesn't need to be registered since that's handled automatically. Were there any other issues?
-
I didn't really go much further but I'll test again. I was clearly misunderstanding the "The pfSense+ instance that Nexus is running on doesn't need to be registered since that's handled automatically" part
Thanks

I don't see the device shown on the second "Dahsboard" screenshot with the other errors though - it should still be shown like in the first screenshot. The error log does indicate that's the issue though:
ERROR: controller is myself

@marcosm Yes seems like it's working but I haven't played with it yet. Still digesting my routing issues from the other thread.
One quirk I noted: the "HTTP URL" is basically non-working, at least in my testing with Chrome. It triggers an
HTTP 303
(aka "See Other") status code, redirecting to the secure link. However, Chrome doesn't like this and just throws up this error: -
Hmm, the link in System > Advanced > Nexus?
I expect that to redirect to https normally. Do you have that redirect disabled in admin access perhaps?
Edit: I can't replicate that here though.

@stephenw10 Right, sorry yes: System > Advanced > Nexus.
Also, yes, I have the webConfigurator Redirect disabled in System > Advanced.

Hmm, I'll dig further...
