Re: Not getting 2.5 GB between Ubuiquiti USW 16 Pro Max and PFSense with i225 NIC
Recently, I replaced my pfsense router to hardware that has 2.5GB ports and a core switch that also supports 2.5GB. This is to allow me to get all out of my 1.5GB internet connection that I recently upgraded to.
Connection to WAN registers at 2.5 GB Full duplex no problem. Same when I connect my pc to the switch, i get 2.5 GB Full duplex via auto negotiation. But when I connect the LAN port to the switch and everything over that port is 1GB Full duplex (native interface and vlan's on said interface)? Not sure if i am missing something.
Some additional info is the switch i am running the LANport/VLANs to is a Unifi USW Pro Max 16. The Intel Nic's are I225-V ethernet controller.
Any ideas why the Unifi is not seeing anything above 1GB as an option under manual? The pfsense does show the 2500Base-T option as well as all normal ones below it but if i hard set it to that then the connection dies completely.
Another oddity in my opinion (but may be normal as i never checked this on my previous pfsense boxes, is that under the vlan interface settings for speed it only has autoselect and Default for options. Again this may be normal for vlan interfaces.
Just to test i configured one of the opt ports as a physical interface only (no vlans assigned to it) and it too will not get anything above 1GB negotiated or as a manual option.
Really hoping someone points out i am being an idiot about something.
Thanks in advance to all those far more knowledgeable than I.

- Which port on the USW Pro Max 16 are you connection the LAN cable. Of course you are aware that only 4 ports are 2.5G on that switch (according to the product page)
- What speed selection does is show if you remove the LAN cable, still 1G the fastest speed selectable?
- What happens when you switch the ports from the pc and the LAN cable?
In general you would have better support on the Unifi forum I think.
