      Good afternoon,

The following error is occurring only on each boot time of this new pfSense installation. Should I be concerned or should it be ignored?

(da0:pvscsi0:0:0:0): UNMAP failed, switching to WRITE SAME(16) with UNMAP BIO_DELETE
      (da0:pvscsi0:0:0:0): UNMAP. CDB: 42 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 08 00
(da0:pvscsi0:0:0:0): CAM status: SCSI Status Error
      (da0:pvscsi0:0:0:0): SCSI status: Check Condition
(da0:pvscsi0:0:0:0): SCSI sense: ILLEGAL REQUEST asc:24,0 (Invalid field in CDB)
(da0:pvscsi0:0:0:0): Command byte 7 is invalid
      (da0:pvscsi0:0:0:0): Error 22, Unretryable error

Apparently the system is running well, without any major changes in the logs.

      Environment details:

      PfSense CE 2.8
      File System ZFS
      VMware ESXi, 8.0.3, 24022510
      SCSI Paravirtual Controler
Hard Disk Thick Provision Lazy Zeroed
      Datastore VMFS 6
VM function: FW/GW of a one thousand user wifi network

I've found some reports of similar errors but none of the answers seem to apply to the characteristics of my environment.

      Thank you,

      Geovane

        Hi,

Today I installed a new VM for a different purpose, with the same pfSense/Disk/Virtualization features, and the exact same error occurred on the new machine.

@geovaneg It may not be related but whilst the PVSCSI is traditionally more performant, i've used the LSILogic SAS controller on my installs without issue. I believe it is also mentioned in the docs.
