Windows Vista with pfSense
-
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, or if anyone has tried Windows Vista with pfSense. But i wanted to know if anyone is running into any problems. I am simply unable to connect to the internet while using Vista untill I do the following 2 things;
Disable IPv6 Protocol and netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled I guess the new TCP/IP stack in vista auto determins network availability and tunes itself to the availability. Microsoft has determined this to be a problem with the firewall. Not surprising is that this also happens with D-Link and netgear routers and if you disable statefull packet inspection on the firewall you do not need to do the steps i described. This problem also occures with IPCop 1.4.11 so i'm guess its more of a linux problem.
Has anyone run accross this problem and if so how were they able to fix it? Is there something that can be changed in pfSense to fix this?
Thanks for any help you can provide

I have a vista box that works just fine. It's not a pfSense issue.

I've installed Vista Beta 2 and RC1 inside vmware and had no problems getting to the internet through the pfsense box. Works perfect. This is with accepting the default Vista settings. IPv6 is enabled on Vista by deault and an ipconfig /all commands shows both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

After some more digging, a lot more digging. It seems that the problem is related to our fiber provider. Sorry if i implied that there was anything wrong with pfSense, I've been using it for months now in our school system and love it.
