I have 2 pfsense installations. Both will only support a single vpn connection at a time. Subsequent attempts to connect succeed but cause the prior connection to drop.

      Any ideas?

I did search but didnt see any clear answers on why this problem exists.

With that said, what is the simplest and most preferred alternative to PPTP that will support multiple users?

disable local pptp server then it works or use only one outbound tunnel… it's a pf (the packet filter) issue ...
will be fixed in pfsense, when it's fixed in freebsd...

            When ? ... when it's done...

              OpenVPN works good.
