ITunes sharing?
-
There is one thing that I still can't figure out how to set up. I can't seem to get iTunes sharing to work over my LAN. I have created a firewall rule to allow all traffic over the LAN interface, and it still doesn't work. I've isolated the problem to the router… if I hook up my old Netgear (yuck) router, it works fine. Has anyone been successful in getting iTunes sharing to work? Is there something that I am missing?

You want to share your itunes library to the world or just to other clients inside your lan? Traffic inside your lan is not passing the pfSense which means the pfSense can't be the problem.

I just want to share it with other clients on the LAN. I have a WRAP box running pfsense. In it is an Atheros CM9 card running in AP mode acting as my LAN (10.0.0.0/24). I have two laptops connected wirelessly (10.0.0.100,10.0.0.101). The sharing problem seems to be a firewall issue, but like I said- I've opened all traffic on the LAN through the pfsense GUI. That doesn't seem to help. Besides the firewall, I don't see what else could be getting in the way.

So you have bridged the wlan interface with lan? Lokks like we have a bridging bug in the latest snapshots. What version are you running?

Sorry, I need to be more clear. My LAN is the WLAN. To my knowledge, I don't have a bridge set up. I'm running version 1.0.1 embedded.

Ah, you are missing the intrabss option. Upgrade to the latest snapshot from http://snapshots.pfsense.com/FreeBSD6/RELENG_1/embedded/ (you need to reflash). Version 1.0.1 was missing the intrabss option (allow wireless clients to talk to each other) as it was broken in the driver during that time. Upgrade and you'll find it along the options for the wireless interface.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot later this week.
