      Hi to all,

i've an office with pfsense that block all traffic from lan except 80,443,110,25,53,995; all the rest is blocked by a black-all rule created by me!

I belive that with this configuration the automatic updates for windows and the automatic updates of the antiviruses softwares, for example, will not work. What ports does the windows automatic updates uses?

      Thanks a lot!

"Windows Automatic Updates" uses ports 80 and 443, you can check this in the squid logs.

I doubt the anti-virus updates use anything else except HTTP(S) and FTP. I know for a fact that Kaspersky 6 uses FTP, and I have to set it to passive in the admin.

If your using a Content filter and have 'DOWNLOADS' set to deny, this could also affect windows updates (and others).

                thanks!

Port 21 is only the control port for ftp

FTP also uses a second port for data flow.

Some info here in ftp and active and passive mode and the second port
