Yep and SmoothWall uses miniupnpd as well. Try the static port option.

I don't see why it wouldn't work after enabling the static port option. What I don't understand is why you keep saying it doesn't work and then name off other distros. You don't even try the solutions posted or give the information I ask so I can resolve the issue. I have talked with Lawrence, the founder of Smoothwall, multiple times as he created IMSpector. They along with other distros use miniupnpd. The difference is pfSense is trying to be more secure by randomizing the ports.

When clicking advanced outbound NAT it auto creates the rule it was using for the automatic outbound NAT. All your doing is editing it and checking the static port box.

UPNP not working well for me either, its fully functional on other routers but not pfsense. well, you guys have the better details.. i guess it needs to be worked on somehow. quite a crucial function for a lot of people.

What isn't fully functional with UPnP on pfSense?

If you like to test. Download gg-game.com (ggclient) Upnp does work on my linksys for this, but not pfsense.

You're going to have to get me the debug output for gg-game. I downloaded and installed it, but I don't want to sign up for an account and I don't have any games on my system. Not to mention this program doesn't even create start menu items or have an uninstall. ::)

To run miniupnpd in debug mode do the following from the console. I would recommend using ssh so you can copy/paste the output.

                          cd /tmp
                          wget http://wgnrs.dynalias.com/pfsense/miniupnpd/upnp_support
                          chmod +x upnp_support
                          ./upnp_support stop
                          ./upnp_support debug

I set the static port option, assigned my xbox 360 and IP of 192.168.1.20, forwarded ports UDP 88 UDP 3074 TCP 3074 to 192.168.1.20, and what do you know, I get OPEN NAT, sure as hell beats all this UPNP bs.

I've never had an issue with UPnP. I don't even have the static port option set. I turn on xbox, the port gets map, the xbox shows it as open nat every time.

I wonder if some of these folks are running restrictive LAN rules.  IE: They edited the default allow all and started to clamp down on lan -> internet traffic?
