Hey, just want to mention that i just picked up a 10dbi omni 360degfree antenna for my box. Now i have no clue really if i haveto do any adjusment on the pfSense itself or does it autofeel the antenna?  ::) What i want to archive? Stronger and more powerfull Wifi coverage.  ;D

Any suggestion are most welcome to this antenna thingy  :P

There is not such a thing as a 10dBi omni antenna. You've got ripped off.

What you probably have is an antenna with a high gain around 0° ~ +/-30° horizontal and 0°~360° vertical.

No you dont need to do anything on the pfSense.
A different antenna is something physical. Nothing you have to do with the software.

How do you want your WiFi coverage?

Here´s more info about the antenna: http://www.planex.net/product/wireless/ant-in-10-b.htm

Exelent knowing that iv been ripped off, but the wifi coverage seem to be more stronger. I get stronger connection on the laptop now. 5/5 bars, with regular netgear antenna, i got 3-4 bars. So, it does something i guess.

Yes of course it does something :D
It's just not an omni-antenna. (Even if most manufacturers call them like this…. >_< )

If you look at the table below you can see:

            Beam Width-H Plane  360°
            Beam Width-E Plane 30°

So my estimate was right ;)
This kind of antenna makes the signal horizontally stronger at the expense of the signal vertically.
The Antenna just radiates circular around the axis.
If you're in a right angle to the shaft you get the strongest signal.
If you're at the pointy end you get the worst signal.
So while you may have access now in a far place on the same floor, you will have a much weaker signal if you're on a different floor.

2 Floors can already be problematic.
But just try it out :)
If you have problems you could always use a second antenna.

There was quite a long discussion about this not too long ago.
If you search the wirelessforum you will find it.

I have 7dbi d-link antenna and it work ok for me. pfsense sits on the first floor and I have 4 bars signal throughout 3 floor townhouse.
before that I was using 3dbi with these things http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template/index.html but they were constantly knocked down by my kid  :)
