I just downloaded the iso but I have a question.

Is there a way to time limit access to the net for certain pc's by ip or mac?
I have 3 that need 24/7 access and have 3 that need to be denied access from 23:00-06:00
by denied I mean totally blocked not even able to get a ping out.

      Acer Aspire One Netbook
      Atom 1.6 GHZ
      1GB ram
      Lan RE0 Onboard Realtek
      Wan UE0 Trendnet TU2-ET100 USB-LAN

Try setting up a captive portal with a radius-server that supports timebased rules. Your clients have to authenticate at the captive portal to allow traffic going out though.

This option does exist within Squid, but there is no GUI configuration for it yet.  I'm working on re-writing the package in pure PHP now, so I will be adding this feature.  I post release notes with each release in the Packages board, so you'll know when this is added.  Thanks!

                Redpanther,

Be aware that what Myntric is adding to the squid package will only affect HTTP-based traffic.  It will not block ping or other non-http traffic from the affected machines.

                  Ok, thanks for the clarification.

Unless you add a pass-through mac or pass-through ip entry.

With RC2, I was able to setup a block for 2 computers that my kids use to keep them from staying up all night.  It may be what you were looking for.
