Is there a way to connect a gps to an alix board (via usb) and then tell ntpd to get its time from the gps unit using pfsense?

Depends on the GPS device and how it provides clock. Most likely it will require a custom kernel with SYNC_PPS enabled. It will definitely require manual editing of ntp.conf to fudge local clock as a stratum 1.

I guess I'm not looking for PPS capability (no serial gps) but wanted to plug up a usb model we have laying around the office and see what happens.  I was curious if anyone had done this using pfsense already and could save me some time.
          thanks,
          Jim
