DHCP on WRT54G running DD-WRT as WAP

Hi,
I've got an old computer running pfSense as my router. I also have a Linksys WRT54G router running DD-WRT. I would like to use the WRT54G as a wireless access point.
I currently have it connected to the pfSense box and set in switch mode. I can connect wirelessly (or via ethernet) to the WRT54G, but there is no DHCP. I have to use static IP configuration.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've searched around a little, but couldn't find anything particularly helpful.

Plug the pfsense box into the lan and not the wan and try again. For the pfsense box to be able to pass the DHCP address its needs to be on the same network as the DD-WRT box. I have several clients that have this up and running currently and all works well.

Also, DD-WRT can be set as DHCP relay and forward all such traffic from wireless to your pfSense and vice versa.
Just remember to connect your WRT54Gs LAN port to your pfSense and not the WAN as posted previously. You can/should disable WAN or add it to the LAN switch as additional (LAN) port. -
I don't understand what you mean. I currently have the WRT54G running in switch mode and I connected the port labeled "Internet" to my pfSense box. I have the WAN functionality on the WRT54G disabled in DD-WRT. Do you mean I should be connecting one of the 4 ports normally used to connect devices to the network to connect the WRT54G to the pfSense box? I thought that if you turned off the WAN functionality, you could use the "Internet" port for that purpose.

This can be done but the WAN interface has to be assigned to the LAN bridge separately.

I tried doing that for a while, but its easier to just buy a 15$ wireless card and add an additional interface to pfsense. then you get all the power of bsd a desktop computer

I have faced many problems connecting a wireless PCI card into my pfsense box. If you have stable performance, can you please tell me the name model and firmware version (if any) of the card.

I have had good service from a TP-LINK TL-WN651G, a PCI card using the Atheros WiFi chipset.

I just did this (the thread's topic), and it works great.
Physical Setup: One of the WRT54G LAN ports to pfSense LAN ( in my case, the house switch ).
DD-WRT Setup ( Basic Setup tab ) ( DD-WRT v24 )
WAN Connection Type: Disabled
Router IP: Local IP Address: [ Something other than your pfSense box ]
Network Address Server Settings (DHCP): DHCP Type: DHCP Forwarder
DHCP Server: [ the IP address of your pfSense router ]Note: If the Linksys' LAN IP was/is the same as you pfSense box (you know, the common 192.168.1.1), make sure you change that before hooking it up in the pfSense's LAN.
