1.2.3 & Imbedded Devices
-
I am still using a Soekris net4501 that has 128mb of ram, instead of the normal 64mb.
I don't intend to migrate from it in 1.2.3 if I don't have to, how should the performance differ?I can't demo it myself right now, so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Considering that 1.2 and 1.3 (1.2.3 isn't mentioned in the wiki) are both on FBSD 6.2, I wouldn't expect any significant difference in performance, but I can't speak from experience, nor do I have any specific knowledge on the differences from a development point of view.

I think it's faster, but it's more of a "feel" than anything measurable. I don't use traffic shaping, but it seems that my total bandwidth is divided up among several streams rather elegantly and even better than with 1.2.2. But again, it's more of a "feel" thing. Perhaps it's the FBSD 7.2 kernel. YMMV

I just updated the versions list. I had it in another article, but I updated the list and redirected the other article there as well.
I've booted and run recent 1.2.3-RC snapshots on an older WRAP board with 128MB RAM and it seemed happy, but didn't test it extensively.

Excellent, thanks all. Sounds like things will be just fine.
Even a small performance hit would be acceptable, just worried about something major.
